get the cheque delieved by courier so can not be ripped off by filipino postal service.
spend the $35 don't be *****, hold payment until u get like $1000 then get it sent

google peso cheques are from citibank so they clear in 4 days unlike out of country cheques.

Hello drama king. This thread is not only for me, but for other noobs as well. A noob like me, who only earns $100 a year on adsense, needs help, so please be nice! This is to help us avoid getting problems like; stolen checks, or checks not being honored by banks or bank branches.

We don't want to open a bank account in bank branches where we know google checks are not being honored. We don't want to spend $24 on a secured delivery, when we know that its safe to have our checks delivered via standard delivery to the post office in our area. So don't just answer the question, follow the format. If you dont want to answer, then don't.

Order the cheques in peso. No point in ordering cheque in US $, $ garbage anyway.

They are issued by citibank . According to the bank manager it is same as a local cheque so it should clear in 4 days. (mine did).

BPI on emerald street (has a new name now) in ortigus in pasig clears them, and the BPI on ortigus, by san juan, (you go past greenhills).

You guys are filipino so you probably know the lay of the land better.
I have heard stories of people who live in the good parts of makati getting thier cheques stolen when sent thru mail.
The worst part is when they talk to google it shows that the cheque has been cashed.

I suspect that the theves have an inside in the bank.
I am very suspect of the filipino banking system in general. One time for payment i accepted a cheque (~200K php), issued from a smaller bank. The cheque bounced. But when the cheque was returned, the part that showed insufficient funds was scratched out and changed to cheque stopped. If showed insufficient funds i could have taken legal action against the person. This person had an insider working for them in bank. Anyway after much hassle i collected my money.
(so i do not offend other people i will not add words describing what i think of the persons mother, and what i think his mother's job was, and his mother's maritable status when he was born).

Give urself the peace of mind and order cheque by courier.
If you only make $100 a year, make more sites ;)

Here's my answer to your new questions:

Which bank/ bank branches accepts google checks? They all do. But because of money laundering devices in place, you will have a hard time encashing it immediately (not to mention the ids and processes you need). Your best bet is to open a dollar account and deposit it there. Landbank, PNB and BPI have relatively small maintaining balances in their dollar accounts.

Go and check how much the banks near you require to open an account, then buy the dollars to open it.

Which currency do you prefer to receive your adsense checks? Dollar (sorry nop_90 - differing opinion here but hey, we all have a right to that eh?). It may be fluctuating terribly now but see the trend in a few more years after Bush steps down or when they get another mideast war going. Also, see how the peso trend goes after GMA goes down from her position of power leaving behind billions of dollars debt due to fertilizer scams, Macapagal highway scams, ZTE deals, etc. Now is the best time to get those dollars while they're cheap IMHO.

Highest they ever went was in Erap's time (something like 59 pesos to a greenback) due to us rallying at EDSA ... with the current disatisfaction of the Phil. people over GMA rule you can be sure that an Erap supporter is up next for prez (unless cheating erupts again). So I'm saving up for that.

Don't take my word for it - I could be wrong and tear out my own hair if the peso hits 1:1 with the US dollar in 2010. But then again, so will most of the people here (and the OFWs too).

Think about it, most of the Philippine economy is dependent on having a stronger dollar (OFWs, outsourced services [call centers, encoding, SEO/SEM, programming, web design], export businesses, etc.) that alone should tell you that if the peso rises too high - it is bound to fall again.

DHL or Standard Delivery? DHL. What's one-fourth of your earnings per annum (as you said, you earn $100/year) to ensure you get 3/4 of your money? Would you wait until someone grabs/steals/encashes your check and lose $100 or wait a bit for your money to hit $120-ish to make sure you get your $100?

In the end its your call. Your dough - so your loss or gain if you follow which advice you want to.

Ganito lang yan, for hassle free Adsense enchashment :

- Make sure the amount is in Peso. AFAIK all banks should be able to accept this if you deposit it in your existing peso bank account. Usually clears 3 days after.

- I might be paranoid, but I use the courier option ($24 fee). Yes it's kinda steep, but getting your check on time (usually end of the month ko nakukuha yung akin) is worth it. Pag snail mail kasi it usually takes like 20 days to arrive (if it doesn't get lost and encashed somehow).

- Di ko lang sure about the amount but to be safe make sure your checks are less than Php 20k. Don't put on hold too much earnings and plan a one time big release to save on courier fees. Some banks kasi are paranoid. =)

I was just thinking about the guys who are just starting out and are short of funds.
To open a BPI peso account min balance is like 500 PHP , while to open a dollar account min balance is $500.
I think for dollar account BDO is like $200 (i can not remember).
Anyway for guy starting out he may be not able to get his hands on $500 but he should be able to get his hands on 500 peso.
(Until he pointed this out to me it never entered my head).
Hopefully atabon is correct about the dollar vs peso, The exchange rate killing me :).

When i started with adsense i did not read the details (I have an attention span of like 2 minutes, if i can not make it work in that time i lose my temper), so i just figgered that it paid in dollars. So i thought maybe this guy did not know peso was an option.

My situation different.
Most of my income now days comes from affiliates (pharma and adult oriented) they all pay with epassporte , which is like a virtual visa. Affiliate sticks $$$ in i just go to an ATM and draw out money. To be honest that is the main reason i promote that stuff. Why people want to look at this rubbish, or buy these products baffles me.

Later on when he is learns the ropes he can move into affiliates (tons of things to sell on the net). In that case he probably will need $$$ account to get bank wires etc.
Bankwires are best $$$ move in like 3 days no worry of stolen cheques etc.
Ussually affiliate charge u $35 per wire, but u making big $$$ now :D

Adsense great way to start out.
Signing up for an adsense account easy.
The great part about the net is you can get free hosting.
with zero investment, providing u have 1/2 a brain u can make good $$$.

Later on diversify ur income with other net ventures.

Kasi mas mataas ang exchange rate ng WU compare sa BDO at SM Forex.
Pero syempre mas mataas pa rin sa mga generic money changer, medyo nakakatakot nga lang...

Google's USD-PHP conversion is insanely low, I got a 1 USD = 42.xx PHP this month pft.
