View Full Version : CMS Recommendation
Hi
Just need a little of your help.
We are planning to create a site wherein people can pass their resume and employers can accept resumes. With Forum and blog and with SEF URLS what would you recommend based on experience
Drupal or
Mambo o
Joomla or
Other
Any suggestions.
Thanks

I was assigned to do some research on Drupal, Joomla and Typo3 and I chose Drupal after my research was done.
I wish I can share some of the documentation but it was not for my own company but for the company I work for and I also cannot release it.
But based on a research by IBM, this can give you some insights too on the overall power of these different CMS'

@Wraith
Would you care to explain why you think it is the best ?
Or maybe u can point me to places that compare it to other CMS.
This first time I ever hear of it (to be honest i know very little about java).
Also have u worked with other CMS. What where ur experience with them ?.
Just asking. I have lots of coding experience, but very little experience in the way of web server side programing. From what I have seen most PHP based CMS are very clunky.
Thanx

Sa akin TYPO3 pa din... The next is Drupal... You will see the difference and yung ease of use ng TYPO3. Ok sana ung typo3 ala to maxado english resource kaya talgang matutukan mo.
and ung liferay , portal site ata un...

New York Times uses Typo3.
I tried installing both Typo3 and Drupal. Interface pa lang ng Typo3 nalilito na ako. It also seems to have it's own syntax for posting if type mong pagaralan.
Typo3, very powerful. But most features I found in Typo3 that Drupal and Joomla does not have, there is a free extension for it and is easy to find.
Parang maganda din Typo3 if German ka, since most resources for Typo3 are in German, pati mailing list na active is German, pati chatroom puro German.

never heard of liferay before this comment.
so i checked out the demo.
yikes, demo site loaded too slowly.
dual proc, 2gb ram, 7mbps connection.
back button in order.
pero visually, it looks great.

Drupal is good but could be complicated to customize/enhance. Try Wordpress and customize it so that it doesn't look like a blog.

I have been using Wordpress since 2004 and yes, I like it kaya gamit ko pa din.
I have been using Drupal for less than 1 month and I like it so much right now that I am thinking all my sites from now on will be all Drupal. :D

I'd refrain from using Liferay for anything but a company portal. an internal company portal. I believe its Java based so this contributes to its loading speed. this can be a bit a problem if your site starts scaling.
As for Joomla, I have used it for several sites and does provide a lot of flexiblilty but the default Search engine friendly facilities are just painful to manage (as of version 1.0.13 and the current release candidate 1.5 have some URL setting i dont like). Also Joomla has a very good base for templates and components. giving it more features when you need customization.
No real experience with drupal and typ03.

depende sa direction ng website eh.. I'll use WP for easy maintenance ng mga articles and yun lang ang purpose nung website...manageable content(article). but kung kailangan na ng mas advanced na features like custom applications, I'll go for Joomla.

My vote will go for joomla. Aside from having many modules and components it is also awarded as the best web-based opensource project (Please correct me if im wrong..).

salamat
